Presenting my Heathrow petition to the government

On Monday I presented my Heathrow petition, signed by more than 3,500 local residents, to Number 10 Downing Street.

On Monday, I presented a petition to the government which was signed by 3,500 local residents who are opposed to the 3rd runway at Heathrow.

It’s clear a third runway would increase already illegal levels of toxic pollutionand damage the fight against climate change.

As the Member of Parliament for Richmond Park and North Kingston I will continue the Liberal Democrats’ forty-year fight against Heathrow expansion. Since the 1970s the Liberal Democrats have campaigned against expansion. I am proud to continue that campaigning legacy.

I'll also fight to ensure European air quality limits are met. London already has the worst levels of air pollution in the UK, causing as many as 10,000 premature deaths a year. A 3rd runway would make the situation even worse. There is no guarantee that the Conservative Government would retain the (very sensible) European air pollution targets if we left the EU.

This election is a chance to send this Conservative government a powerful message against the status quo on HeathrowBrexit and the NHS.
