Kingston Hospital wins extra money for maternity services

Kingston Hospital has been awarded extra funding to develop new maternity services. This year’s £100,000 boost for support programmes for vulnerable women with complex needs is in addition to the £219,000 Kingston received last year for a new birthing pool.

Robin Meltzer, Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Campaigner for Richmond Park and North Kingston said:

"I am delighted Kingston’s excellent maternity services have been recognised by extra Government cash for a second year running.

"Kingston’s maternity services are continually rated amongst the best in the country both by independent experts as well as the families having their babies there. So more help to develop further Kingston’s leading maternity care services is a big vote of confidence in all the staff at Kingston.

"With rising birth rates in south-west London, I think it will make sense to invest much more in Kingston Hospital’s maternity services in the future. So this good news should only spur us on to argue Kingston’s case, to ensure we invest in the best."
